If you already plan your week in Claude or ChatGPT, you can now bring your coaching business into the same chat. The UltraFit360 coach connector lets either assistant read your client roster, check-ins, nutrition and training logs, and, with your confirmation, assign programs, adjust targets, reply to check-ins and message clients. You ask in plain English; it works from your real client data instead of whatever you paste into the chat.
This guide covers setting it up in Claude and in ChatGPT, what it can and can't do, and how to fix the common sign-in problems.
Before you start
- A coach account that has finished setup. Sign in to the coach portal and complete the two setup screens first. You will sign in to the connector with the same Google, Apple or email login.
- Claude: custom connectors work on every Claude plan. The Free plan allows one custom connector; Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise allow more.
- ChatGPT: a paid plan (Plus or Pro, or a Business workspace whose admin allows custom MCP servers) with Developer mode turned on. The steps are below.
https://api.ultrafit360.com/mcp/coachUse this one, ending in
/coach. The shorter https://api.ultrafit360.com/mcp
is the connector for your own personal fitness data, not your clients.
Why ChatGPT needs Developer mode for now
ChatGPT lists apps in its plugin directory only after OpenAI reviews them. The UltraFit360 connector for personal fitness data is already listed, but the coach connector is still waiting for review, so searching the directory won't find it yet. Until it is approved, you add it yourself as a custom MCP server, which ChatGPT only allows in Developer mode. Once the coach connector is listed, you will be able to add it from the directory instead.
Claude has no such step. Its custom connectors accept any server URL, so the coach connector works there today exactly as it will after any directory listing.
Set it up in Claude
- On claude.ai, open Customize → Connectors. (Older versions call this Settings → Connectors.)
- Select + Add, then Add custom connector.
- Enter the name UltraFit360 Coach and the server URL
https://api.ultrafit360.com/mcp/coach. Leave the OAuth client ID and client secret fields under Advanced settings empty. - Select Add, then Connect. An UltraFit360 sign-in page opens. Sign in with the login you use for the coach portal, and you are returned to Claude.
- In a new chat, select the + button at the lower left, open Connectors and make sure UltraFit360 Coach is switched on.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner first adds the connector under Organization settings → Connectors; each coach then connects their own account from Customize → Connectors. Connectors you add on claude.ai also appear in the Claude desktop and mobile apps on the same account.
Claude lets you set each tool to Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked in the connector's settings. A sensible setup is to always allow the read tools (roster, client snapshots, check-ins) and leave anything that changes a client's plan or sends a message on Needs approval.
Set it up in ChatGPT (Developer mode)
- Turn on Developer mode: select your profile, open Settings → Security and login and switch on Developer mode. ChatGPT moves this setting from time to time; on some accounts it sits under Settings → Apps → Advanced settings.
- Open Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins), select the + button and choose Add custom MCP server.
- Enter the name UltraFit360 Coach and a short description such as "My UltraFit360
coaching clients, check-ins and programs". Under Connection, enter
https://api.ultrafit360.com/mcp/coach. - Set authentication to OAuth and leave any client ID or client secret fields empty. Read the risk warning and select I understand and want to continue.
- Select Create as a plugin. ChatGPT lists the tools it found. Install it and sign in with your coach portal login when the UltraFit360 page opens.
- Start a new conversation, type @ in the message box and pick UltraFit360 Coach.
Developer mode is aimed at people who understand what a connector can do, so ChatGPT shows warnings about write actions. They are worth reading: the connector can message your clients and change their plans, which is exactly why it asks you to confirm those actions first (see below).
What you can ask
Some prompts coaches use on a Monday morning:
- "Who needs my attention this week? Overdue check-ins, plans ending soon, anyone gone quiet."
- "Give me a snapshot of Priya: weight trend, last three check-ins and how close she is to her protein target."
- "Which clients missed their check-in this week?"
- "Compare Jordan's training volume this month with last month."
- "Reply to Sam's check-in: great consistency, let's add a fourth session next week."
- "Assign my 12-week hypertrophy program to Alex and raise his calories to 2,600."
- "Review my public profile and suggest a better bio."
- "Build a 4-day upper/lower program template for intermediate lifters."
What it can change, and how it asks first
The connector has 32 tools. Most only read. The ones that change something fall into two groups:
- Preview, then confirm. Anything a client will see (assigning a program or meal plan, changing targets or the check-in schedule, sending a message, replying to a check-in), anything that deletes, and anything public (your profile, packages). The assistant first shows you exactly what will change, and only does it after you confirm in the chat.
- Done directly. Creating a new program template, meal plan template or questionnaire in your own library. Nothing reaches a client until you assign it.
Messages and check-in replies are sent exactly as you approve them; the assistant does not rewrite them after you confirm.
Which clients it can see
- Your own active clients. A client's logs, check-ins and plan are available once they have accepted your invite; a pending invite or a lead has no data to read yet.
- Head coaches can also see every client in their organisation, compare coaches' performance and reassign clients between coaches.
- Only from the day the client accepted. Logs from before a client started with you stay private to them, in the connector exactly as in the portal.
If a client stops coaching with you, they drop out of what the connector can reach. More on how client data works when coaching ends is in why clients keep their progress.
Troubleshooting
- "This connector is for coaches." You signed in with an account that has no coach
profile, or you added the personal
/mcpURL by mistake. Disconnect, check the URL ends in/mcp/coach, and sign in with your coach portal login. - The sign-in page shows an error before you can log in. Remove the connector, add it again with the exact URL above, and if it still fails, contact support with the error text.
- ChatGPT doesn't show "Add custom MCP server". Developer mode is off, your plan doesn't include it, or your workspace admin has blocked custom MCP servers.
- The assistant doesn't use UltraFit360. Make sure the connector is switched on for that chat (Claude: + → Connectors; ChatGPT: type @ and pick it), or name it in your prompt.
- A tool you expected is missing. Disconnect and reconnect, or refresh the connector, so the assistant fetches the current tool list.
Still stuck? Open Help & Support in the coach portal and create a ticket. Technical details of the server, including sign-in and security, are in the MCP connector documentation.
https://api.ultrafit360.com/mcp/coach as a custom
connector in Claude, or as a custom MCP server in ChatGPT with Developer mode on, and sign in with your
coach portal login. Reads are instant; anything a client would see waits for your confirmation.
